I agree. And with books you can scheme the material at whatever pace you want, cos sometimes you might just be looking for a particular idea.

Easier with videos. But its important after finishing digesting the content you read textbooks. It's highly likely that even the one reading will read more than one book and sometimes the beginner friendly materials don't go too much indepth

Text is much better in my opinion. I don't agree with your reason though.

The only upside to videos is that it can show you how to do something much more clearly.

The reason text is better is because it actually forces you to pay attention to the words while with videos, it's easy to not take everything in and get distracted.

One place videos are good though are for edutainment. I'll watch Linus tech tips or some ordinary gamers and passively learn a bit just through what they are talking about.

For algorithms what textbook u recommend is best for self study… ones I’ve heard about so far are CLRS, DPV and Kleinberg & Tardos… not sure if they’re good for self study tho
