I'm pretty sure that's this is the beginning of a sci-fi horror movie.

A friend of mine used to live in Alaska. He had came into contact with something from the permafrost in one of his hikes. At first he thought it was allergies as parts of his body seemed to swell up at random with no explanation. He has seen all kinds of doctors, specialists, and even some scientists all throughout the world that couldn’t explain why this was happening to him. To this day it affects him severely as some days his eyelids are swollen shut. I’m not saying this is the same thing but anything foreign and ancient must be thoroughly studied before exposing it to the modern world.

as a medical professional 😢, this is not Good. if it survived that long it means its highly resistant to extreme temperatures. it will be hard to eradicate if it becomes spread

Hopefully they are studying these extremely carefully with oversight

Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.

I'm only an RN but reviving these things could be extremely dangerous. No one knows what kind of diseases they carry or that they could do to the environment if accidentally released

She carried it in her pocket. After it was frozen 46, 000 years.
That sounds like the beginning of a horror movie.
One that I don’t want to play out in real life.😳

To everyone freaking out: these 2 worms are safe in a lab. But permafrost melts constantly, these certainly aren't the only two alive. You werent freaking out when they were just in the wild but now 2 in a lab have you going nuts lol

Who had ancient worms revived after 46, 000 years in the Siberian permafrost on their 2023 World Catastrophies Bingo Card?!!!! Not me! Craziness!

Reviving an ancient parasitical worm… because there’s not enough things on the table at the moment that can cause human extinction.

The worm already started doing TikTok dances.

It's unbelievable for how long they can stay in a dormant state. That's pretty much immortality

Very interesting, there’s a but though. Could they revive on their own naturally and will they pose a threat to us, our livestock or wildlife?
