C# is my primary language, because I develop in Unity.

Great video! If we're real beginners I think the best route it's the one to be front end developers, learning html, css & js as you've said in other video. In that way we can see we're creating something that we can see and test. From that point we have good foundations to understand and learn easier others lines and languages.

Man I feel old. Started with Assembly reg and C++ in Uni (1999). Shortly after VB and Java. You saying its old makes me feel old lol! So you said you learned all these in 3 years? Thats pretty good and I can see why. You have a very good way analyzing things/problems like a trained software engineer. Well done.

My first language was C, which I always felt like was a great foundation for learning how programming languages work. My employer today uses C# a lot. I would love to hear your thoughts on that language! Love your videos!

Great video! I used to work with C# mostly for back-end. I dedicated 2 years of my life to do a pseudo-career change and become a Game Developer. Learning C/C++ was the best thing I did. It helped me grow so much as a professional. It made me a better C# and JavaScript programmer. Every programmer should learn C/C++. Recent standards made the languages sexier. Wish you all the best.

Great video! Just a call out: "JavaScript is not a class-based object-oriented language. But it still has ways of using object oriented programming (OOP)"

My first was HTML & CSS, of course, along with some JavaScript, but back then it was JQuery I believe, and that was back in probably the 90's. Now I'm into React / React Native, after a long pause as life got in the way. I feel that I'm pretty good at it and the PluralSight progression assessment thing said that I'm extremely proficient at it. I think the problem with me is every company requiring some College degree or several years of on the job experience. I am very passionate about coding tho, and really for the reasons that you stated. I love JavaScript / React because of being able to build the full stack and actually see your project come to life. Great videos, by the way! :)

I just discovered your channel and I am in love! It is very informative and educational, and it might sound strange but your speech is so good that listen to you it helps me with my pronunciation in English, it is like learning English and programming at the same time.

Great video! This is a very controversial topic and will change depending on who you talk to. Overall; most folks I think would agree because 10 languages covers most everything. But I would disagree with a few items in your list.

First: how are you defining "best" languages? Do you mean the most functional? The most flexible? The most popular? The most critical?

1. Python
- Python is highly flexible and can be used in front and back end applications. Also, very easy to learn. Not for AAA games
2. C++
- C++ better performance in certain applications and more widespread. Used in AAA games
3. C#
- Microsoft app development
4. JavaScript
- Useful for web development
5. Kotlin
- Simplified Java and useful for Android development
6. Java
- Java is insanely popular and useful for both app and computer software development
7. Assembly
- For anyone that wants to take a deeper dive into computers
8. C
- Like C++ but more painful and very useful to connect the dots between languages
9. Swift
- Apple app development
10. SQL
- Database architecture and handling is an underrated skillset.

Overall top 3:
1. Assembly
2. C
3. Python

Everything else is easy if you know these three.

Nice video, I am not really too fussed about the ranking, all the top 10 languages together with platforms are good and valuable for different companies. However I see that you have not mentioned Rust, a lot of projects in C/C++, Golang or Java can be done in Rust and perform better. Rust is in huge demand and companies are willing to pay through the nose for a good Rust programmer.

Thank you! Good stuff. I am glad I jumped into Python - I am going to keep learning!

I’ve been a happy Swift developer for 5.5 years. Great language. I would learn TypeScript in addition to JavaScript if I were interested in web development. 👍 on the Canadian pronunciation of “Java”.

My first language? Simon Basic on the TRS-80 Color computer.

The issue I have with learning a language that revolves around one particular product (Swift/Apple) is that it limits your user base. I can create a PWA that will run on both apple and android devices, and I don't even need to use app stores. I would easily take Swift off this list and add C#. C# is a fantastic enterprise level developing language that is versatile. Yes, it is M$, but with the .NET framework, it has become more platform independent.

I have recently started to learn Python, and love it. It is so easy. The only thing is I have flashbacks of my old visual basic spaghetti code. LOL.

PHP is only popular because Wordpress runs on it. If you become a Wordpress God/Goddess, you will be able to keep busy. Personally, I have been able to avoid PHP for my career, which has been a long time.

Thanks for the vid!

I'm in the transportation business and I've decided to learn C++ as my first coding language because I can not ignore the inevitable future of self operating trucks and the need for programmers of these technologies

Assembly is for the very adventurous. Something to just look at as a curiosity!
