Going with a proven powerplant that has other military applications is sound decision making.
The P&W geared turbofans have had numerous problems and GE/CFM have had similar introductory problems.

Either way, the chosen powerplant will have met the stringent design criteria in terms of thrust, economy, reliability, longevity and ease of operation.
