New Developments in Radiation for Brain Tumours: Arjun Sahgal

This session was presented at the 2014 Calgary Brain Tumour Information Day by Dr. Arjun Sahgal.
Dr. Arjun Sahgal is a leader in the field of high-precision stereotactic radiation therapy to the brain and spine.
He trained at the University of Toronto in radiation oncology and completed a fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco in brain and spine radiosurgery.
Dr. Sahgal is recognized nationally and internationally as a clinical expert and research leader in radiosurgery. His primary research focus in developing spine stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) as an effective therapy for patients with spinal tumours. He has published numerous papers on the subject and he has edited and written books and book chapters specific to brain and bone metastases.
Dr. Sahgal is a board and research committee member for Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada and on the board with the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society. He is also invited to speak internationally at conferences and at universities.
Dr. Sahgal leads several research groups and his research activities involve integrating MRI into radiotherapy delivery, combining pharmacologic therapies with radiosurgery, and MRI-guided focused ultrasound.
