Car review in a few | 2019 Toyota RAV4 - very good, in a depressing sort of way

Toyota's latest RAV4 is hybrid-only now and it's quite big, so it's economical and easy to live with. You probably won't get remotely excited about owning one, though.

Thank you for all these great reviews I love them and the memes or little edits are brilliant

A Nissan will begin to fall apart at 50, 000m, earlier if you get an automatic. The Toyota will give 250, 000m of trouble free driving and have better resale value.

Great and sincere review. Keep up the good work! Unlike other car reviewers you focus on things that matter not if you can fit a bottle in a glovebox or if the parcel shelf fits in the boot.

First crossover - the Talbot Matra Rancho launched in 1977.

Man the difference a few thousand miles do. In the US the new RAV4 is seen as a very good driving and handling car and one of the best in class, only behind the CR-V and CX-5.

Had a RAVE4 but got bored with it. Happy with my CX5.

Good review but seeing the RAV4 as an outlier is a UK centric view. It is the best selling car in the US.

I would argue that the Suzuki Vitara was the inspiration for the RAV-4

A Carwow advert preceding your video...please let me believe that was part of your plan! Genius. 😉

Not bad, but is it really honest (or fair) to compare RAV4 to Skoda Karoq or Nissan Qashqai?
I am choosing from Honda CR-V, RAV4, Mitsubishi Outlander and Skoda Kadiaq. I think it is fair list of competitors.
BMW X3, Ford Kuga or Nissan Qashqai are not in the list because of rear legroom problem.
Why did not you say anything about that stupid airport departure board on a car dashboard?
Probably it is OK, but no Android Auto or Apple Carplay? Why we need it then? To watch movie?

To any company car driver who is fed up spunking thousands of pounds every year to the HMRC (and its only going to get worse) and wants a SUV below £50k choices are very limited. I Would happily take a hybrid Q3, Tiguan or X1 but as they don’t exist this is the next best option. Oh and in white it looks like a stormtrooper... extra marks!

@HonestJohn.co.uk: Hey! Thanks for your review - if you have to choose between the CR-V Hybrid and the RAV4 - which one would you choose?

Best regards

The gearbox lever is closer to the passenger than the driver. It seems to sum up the car, in a way. Great review, besides.

what the heck are you talking about? I thought this was a Rav-4 Review, not some cash cow sounding car review.

Somebody here said it has no Apple Car Play. I think I saw another review which confirmed that. So no deal then. It’s probably just me but these days I look at cars the same way that I look at dishwashers or washing machines. White goods for traffic jams. Only the Electric Kia Kona has slightly interested me recently.

Just drove the car in Spain... And couldn't disagree more with your review. It's actually quite fun to drive, refinement is good, some hard plastics feels cheap though. The 3008 a lot more fun to drive ? Don't think so, specially with that small steering wheel. Overall I think it's a superb car, am waiting to test drive it in the UK and compare it to the Seat Tarraco or the Lexus UX. I like to drive, always had diesel cars, and this doesn't feel like the usual CVT. It's fast enough for me.

The original crossover was the Talbot Matra Rancho, all the looks & none of the ability of an offroader.

Don't know where you got your info from, this is clearly not a Toyota, where's the blue LED matrix clock?
