At the age of 75 when Lata Ji was approached to record Luka Chippi she decided to go to Chennai to record the song although A R Rahman was willing to come to Mumbai to record it.

After reaching Chennai she straight away went to the studio and heard the song. She asked for a copy of the song in a cassette and went to the hotel to rehearse. For the next 3-4 days she kept on rehearsing the song at the studio and the hotel.

On the recording day she stood for 8-9 hours to record the song. Although it was easy to patch a work of a line in the recording she insisted on recording the whole verse if anything was not as per what Rahman wanted. She only had some warm water during that time.

It has been a year she left this world, but her voice and songs will always remain alive in the hearts of millions of people.

"your grandma is soo strict and scary omg" .. but little did they know how cute and caring and loving she is .... if possible i want to give my whole life to her ...
