Charted at #1 in September 1918. This is the lesser-heard original version of one of Al Jolson's most enduring hits. This was also one of the biggest records of 1918. Introduced in the Broadway musical, "Sinbad". Recorded March 13, 1918. Other chart placings for "Rock-a-Bye" include #9 for Arthur Fields in 1918, #12 for Jerry Lewis in 1956 (which I've also posted) and #37 for Aretha Franklin in 1961. Written by Sam M. Lewis, Jean Schwartz and Joe Young.

The other side of this record (Columbia A2560) is "Alice I'm in Wonderland (Since the Day that I First Met You)" sung by the Sterling Trio.
