Concerning the problem of fine particulate matter smaller than 2.5 microns (PM2.5), Bangkok was recently ranked among the worst cities for air quality according to Swiss-based IQAir. The number of patients with pollution-associated diseases has been reported to be high each year, with people risking their health just by breathing outside their homes.

Some protocols have been implemented by government agencies to address the issue. However, this still leaves the question: When will the situation in Bangkok, which translates to the 'city of angels' improve?

This is a regular occurrence that happens every year. Nothing will change until the Thai government ceases prioritizing corporate profits and tax revenue over it's citizens' health and well being.

The masks that the people in the video are wearing does nothing to filter out PM 2.5. You can get the kn95 3M masks at most pharmacies. They're good quality and made in Singapore.

Note to the reporter: that medical mask will provide you 0% protection against PM2.5 because the air passes though the open sides.

Never in my life of over 70 years, do I see such level of pollution at the level of Delhi, India and Beijing of old (now it's getting better as all new vehicles are mostly electric as do buses and motorcycles). If this trend continues, Bangkok and Chiang Mai during burning season of late Jan to March will be hell on earth.

Starting from today until Jan.31, the BTS, MRT, and BMTA buses for seven days, are free, Deputy Prime Minister announced yesterday because of air pollution.

That's the thing though, some of it comes from India and Bangladesh, and occasionally from China, depending on the weather patterns. Caught in between bad neighbors.

It looks like LA in the 70s. Not one person is wearing a N-95 mask. I have a negative-ion generator in my home that cleans even odor molecules out of the inside air.
