Amazing speedruns from both competitors, however squidward has been more focused on optimization, rather than spongebob, who was more focused on style. I know this is quite controversial in the bubble blowing speed run community, but I believe we should be judged by optimization rather than style, as squidwards advanced tech was about 10x harder to pull off, and including the fact that he had 1 try only, he REALLY should've won bubblecon 2003... That's just my opinion, feel free to give yours.

clearly squid put more emotion into his, subverting the mere child's game of bubble blowing and transcending to the level of art. you can see in his seething rage the bitterness towards society and meaningless interaction. you can feel his alienation, his self hatred. the sheer size of his bubble represents the ideals his parents imprinted upon him at a young age to be competitive, which is undoubtedly the root of his enmity as he discovers his own mediocrity. it all comes together when his bubbles pop with the odious sound of excrement, symbolizing the occurring theme of filth, decay, and the degradation of the "moralistic" society that his own hatred is the product of. squid asks us what good is a society that spawns stagnancy, and the carrion of self hatred and mental illness. truly squid is number one

SpongeBob's technique was powered by peace and love, while squidward's techique was blinded by maliciousness and hatred, so he could never had made an animal type bubble.
