Just a quick note: We are members of AAA Colorado and they will exchange dollars to Pesos for free if you are a member and are exchanging more than $300.

I did a consultation recently and one of the questions I was asked is what's the best way to get pesos. Then I was talking to my mom who's coming for our wedding and the first question she asked is what's the best way to get pesos. Then I was talking to my dad who's also coming for the wedding and one of his first questions was how to get pesos. Since everyone seems to be asking me this question, I decided to do this video on the best ways to get pesos when coming to Mexico. Please share with someone who may need it!

Do a video at the ATM where it’s trying to get you to accept their conversion rate

You are totally correct Schwab is the answer. I have a Scwab debit card for several years and use it when overseas. Schwab not only does not charge me for overseas ATM fees but reinmburse me for what the overseas bank charges me for the ATM transaction fee.

You can send yourself XOOM, and pick up cash at any Walmart. But only taking $400 or less, just use an ATM and decline any conversion fees.

Amex has not allowed DCC (dynamic currency conversion) historically. Really nice not having to fight with the vendor / merchant to decline dcc. Of course the vendor needs to take Amex

At the end of your trip don't exchange out. Just take the Pesos home and keep them. Thus, no transaction fees. Keep them for you next trip to MX..

Good video, but If you had included screen shots or photos of an ATM screen with the button we shouldn't press for crazy fees, that would help. It's always confusing using an ATM in another country and not always understanding the fees charged to you.

I have a Mexican bank account at Innercam and they're pretty competitive rates but I get better rates at the atm. I'm A Private client of Chase Bank and I get zero ATM fees or international fees. My Amazon prime visa and my Costco Citibank don't charge anything for international fees as well. I hope this helps someone.

Great advice. Thank you.
I go to México at least once a month (Dental Braces). I also have family in México city.
I got tired of paying the ridiculous fees for sending money, so I decided to open a BBVA México bank account.
I use the border exchange houses that usually charge 1 to 2 pesos fee and cross the border. Then, I deposit it through the ATM free of charge.
I gave a México bank credit card from the same account to my sister with a limit of 10, 0000 pesos per month. She uses it and I pay it using my phone app for free.
Granted BBVA does charge me $35 yearly fee for the card. But that's the cheapest way I have found.

When on Vacation I use your no foreign transaction fee credit card method with some cash (Pesos).

Now ask me how I cross the border (via car) with only 25 to 45 minute wait in Tijuana.
