Mezapos is a small, quiet fishing village with turquoise waters, sea caves and legends of hidden pirate treasures.
Mezapos is a picturesque village in the bay of the same name that forms in the bay of the Tigani peninsula in the laconic part of Mani, 18 kilometers south of Areopolis, in the middle of the distance to the well-known destination of Gerolimenas (which is just 8 kilometers away). According to the 2011 census, only 31 people live here.
Mezapos is built in a steep location, between two rocks, but its height does not exceed 10 meters. Despite its small size, it has several beaches with wonderful, blue-green waters and accessible sea caves, while the stories you will hear about the pirate Nikolos Sassaris will fascinate you.
One might not expect it seeing how small Mezapos is, but it has three beautiful beaches in addition to the picturesque harbor of Kourkos (which you can also dive in). All unorganized, all with wonderful, blue-green waters.
Two of them are located in the immediate coastal zone of the settlement and are Halikia and Alonaki - both pebbly, with a nice view towards Tigani. For the third, however, the so-called Kato Mezapo (a small beach), you will have to go outside the village limits, towards the northwest: you will find it by passing the tower of the pirate Sassaris.
Meanwhile, at the bottom of the rocks where the village is built, you will see two caves, for which the only access is by sea.
