I love how Vegeta’s entire life was violence, destruction, and pain until he meets the Goku and the rest of the squad. Suddenly, without stopping, he’s from then on only surrounded by love, friendship, and joy. In moments when he’s perceived as being typical hard-ass Vegeta, it’s probably the softest he’s capable of in the moment and feels very uncomfortable and uncertain.

He had to grapple with a lot of trauma healing and identity crisis on his own when learning to live in his new environment.

It wasn’t a perfect transition but I think the endless support from Goku really helped him along the way. He never gave up on him or made fun of him. Vegeta recognized in Goku a capacity for love and family that he didn’t think was possible. Goku’s unwavering kindness and empathy made it possible for Vegeta to believe in his own potential for growth.

Damn, Vegeta always speaks with his actions rather than words. Not only did he catch Goku, he started his arms high and crouched to disperse the energy so the impact wouldn’t hurt Goku at all. Then, he doesn’t even put Goku down right away like you might expect since he might be embarrassed. He is still holding him out of concern for him until he regains consciousness.
