Kills me how many managers coaches and players act like it’s their first time hearing about this “apparently brand spanking new” RLI rule

1:40 - be really nice to hear manager - umpire argument.

Be a good learning opportunity for us viewing public.

Never once steps into to running lane that he is required to run the last 45' in.

Clear case if I ever saw one. Didn't even have to hesitate to make the call.

I just called a running lane violation this evening and the aggrieved coach kept thinking I was calling him out for being "out of the baseline." I couldn't get him to understand that I was *not* calling him out for being out of the baseline. He interfered with the throw by running in fair territory. He seemed to have never heard of the running lane before. Then he walked away in frustration, saying "That's a made-up call!" The same thing happened in my game that happened in this video. The ball hit the batter-runner's helmet while out of the lane, preventing the first baseman from catching the ball.

For those that don't like the rule, the only solution to change it is the softball double first base. But the baseball purists will scoff at it and never let it happen.

I worked a D3 doubleheader with PU, hell of a guy and umpire.

That seems like a bigger ballpark than the one the Grand Forks Channel Cats used in that league.

Great example, thank you. Can you show RLI with less than two outs and how to handle the runners?

You can be as confident as you want but make sure you get the call correct. Angel Hernandez is ultra confident and many times wrong
