Many Linux users ask the question "How can I contribute to my favorite Linux distribution(s)?" While contributing code, artwork, documentation and money are certainly needed, one of the easiest ways to contribute is by seeding torrents.

Seeding is good. Also beta testing and answering questions on forums. Even if you're a beginner you may know more than some.

It didn’t even occur to me that I could just seed the torrent for the iso, wow. Thanks, DT, I’m gonna start seeding for EndeavourOS now!

Also, contribute to your distro's wiki! Wikis always are in need of people who can create, update and/or improve documentation. It benefits everyone, and you'll probably learn a lot from reading wiki pages in the process.

I never thought about that. It is really a great idea of contributing, not many people have thought about that.

After watching many of DT's (and Luke's) videos I finally completed vimtutor and now I can use vim anywhere. Feels great.
Thank you, Derek.

Installing your favorite distro on your friends (or family) PC and explaining how to use it - is a great way to contribute :)

Many distros need testers who will fill out bug reports. There's a relatively small amount of people doing this.

Hey Derek, regular viewer in England (Birmingham). Another way we non-coders may contribute is by sending app stats to the distro maintainers. For example, when installing Debian (I like testing/Sid, alongside a stable dual-boot), there's an option to send them info on what apps you later choose to install, apparently so the developers can see which are the most popular apps to keep fresh in the repos. And for those of us that like to tinker with testing versions, contributing to bug reports.

Great videos for us Linuxers, buddy - even as a 15 year Linuxer, I still learn a lot from you, especially the value of console text editors. In those moments where we need to edit a file to get a desktop up and running again, they are essential. Thank you. :)

Thanks for not making it Youtube Short, btw
I'm quite happy that I got ratio >1 for linux mint cinnamon and manjaro-kde. It's harder to do with rolling distros but still possible: endavor releases torrent once per month (I think, judging by current version: 22.9)

Is it just me or does the audio lean a bit too much on the left side? (I’m a headphone user, this kind of stuff makes videos hard to watch ^^)

Yes Derek, this is a good idea. Just downloaded some torrent ISOs and managed torrent client to launch and seed at PC startup. I have fiber optics internet and are fast, very stable.

On crappy connections, it's actually a huge pain to download a 2GB+ iso file through the browser. Torrents are much better because they're not error prone, can be stopped and started, and they're often faster too.

It's a very good idea, I'll start to do this.

Thanks DT. I am gonna do this for arco's atleast one ISO as I do remember downloading longer. I didn't occur to me I could help in this way. Thanks!

You don't need a fast connection to seed a torrent either. Any contribution you can make to increasing the size of the seed pool will make download speeds at least a little faster.

Bug reports also help! If you notice a problem with a package you have installed, go file a bug report for it. It helps everyone else who uses that package, because chances are, there are other people encountering the same bug you are.

Thanks, I also have an idea about mirrors as distros like Void, PhyOS lack of mirrors in different locations, which I want to solve, also I've avid love towards FreeBSD so it'd be so amazing to help these folks!
