No one's wrong here... it's the government's duty to look after it's country's economy and its Elon Musk's duty to look after his company's economy.. I don't see what's wrong

When a story written to demonize Elon Musk backfires and makes Musk sound like a reasonable person…

Everyone's protecting themselves here, nothing wrong with that. It just seems like musk wants to try before he buys, smart business really

The government's looking after country's economy and Elon is looking after his company's economy. Sounds fair.

I dont see anything wrong with Elons stance, its a negotiation.

She said "the Indian government is looking after their economy." And "Elon Musk is looking after his profits." Isn't that basically the same thing? Elon is just looking after his economic future also. Right? So she's saying it's ok for a government to do it. But NOT ok for an individual to do so.

What about the expensive "import duties" that Elon and gang would be paying Per Car? Do Indian "import duties" not help the Indian economy?

I understand both viewpoints. But he just wants a trail run to see if there's a market. If there is he'll invest in infrastructure to give Indians jobs. From a business standpoint you can't blame the guy. Theres much at risk for him.

I would agree to let him sell some assembled units and then start factory assembling them in India

The reason for trade is efficiency.
Trade what you do most efficiently for what other countries do more efficiently.
It creates jobs, but it is not a jobs program.

Here's a better way to put it
"India is looking after its profits"
"Elon musk is looking after his profits"
I see nothing wrong here. Tf is wrong with you India, you're acting like you deserve teslas or something. It's not your product man, chill out.

Elon Musk has no problem setting up in China like many other big companies
What percentage of Teslas are made in China?
It's also big business for Chinese suppliers. Tesla said its Shanghai factory bought 86 percent of outsourced Model 3 and Model Y components within China in the fourth quarter of 2020, compared with 73 percent for Tesla cars made in its California factory.

There’s nothing wrong with having a pilot run. That’s just good business. India’s government seems a bit backward. No wonder they still have a struggling economy and falling behind other world economies.
