I read a book about it:
Chef made really good french fries some dude comes in and sends them back for a bit, then the chef “cooks them thin and salty” the dude loved it and they made a bunch for the other customers. The End

Actually according to a certain reference to my high school history teacher. Vanderguild sent the fries back to the kitchen because they were too thick. So therefore Moon decided to slice them thin because Vanderguild kept saying they were to thick.
