Honestly yeah. Sigur Ros is one of my all-time favourite bands and I've watched and listened to a lot of their stuff throughout their career but damn, Fantano isn't even wrong. It's a good album of course but the songs all sound really similar to each other and there's no sort of adventure you feel compared to their previous albums. It really wasn't that impressive of an album (which is crazy to say, but only because Sigur Ros have always DELIVERED with insane shit). So fair play to you Melon, you made some solid points. 5.9/10

Edit: at the end of the day, Sigur Ros made an awesome project and I'm glad they were able to make music for us once again.

I think I'm biased because we put this on in the car after a long, busy, stressful trip. It got to be an hour or so of nobody talking and me just looking out the window. And to be honest, sigur ros has never been one for much harmonic coloration. Their chords are almost always basic. In other words, it's always been about the depth of the textures and sort of giving into the ocean of sounds when it comes to their slower, longer pieces. So I already had the capacity to do that going into this one. Obviously it's not a super relistenable album, unless it's just background or something, but it was a pretty gratifying, meditative first listen for me. Maybe the internet's busiest music nerd just can't slow down enough for that? idk

wtf, this album has lately been my favorite out of all. its has such a dense bittsweet undertone, like ive lost someone. to get someone that emotionally invested is a 7 minimum.
