Do you have any tips for finding birds in a forest? Please teach me!

We cover five tips for finding birds in a forest:
Bird early.
Bring a friend.
Look at different boundaries (forest/water or forest/field) Edges of habitats have more biodiversity.
Walk slowly.
Check every level of forest.

While I am still here in Costa Rica I should make a birding in the rainforest video, it is very different than anything I have ever done. It is all about running across mixed foraging flocks

Great video, Steve. I loved the birds, of course (except for the European Starling, which is an introduced species that has a huge negative impact on all hole-nesting species), but also that you named all of the lovely bio finds. That first snail was gorgeous. Once while I was birding in the William L. Finley NWR in Oregon, I came across a beautiful Coast Garter Snake—my best ancillary find to date.

Time for me to get out and see some birds. I live on the northern coast of California in an area where there are a lot of bluffs, and I recently witnessed a pair of Peregrine Falcons doing an hour or so of pair bonding flights. It was spectacular!
