You actually used it wrong, but still got the desired effect.
The Hulk, by Door Doctor, is to be used on the top hinge, never the bottom hinge, if you want to open the gap between the door and the jamb at the top. Usually a person would bend the door part of the hinge knuckle towards the lockset to achieve a fix. You bent all of the jamb part of the knuckles towards the hinge side of the door.

The Hulk is from DOOR DOCTOR. The kit comes with three hinge sleeves these sizes are not used here in Australia so dont buy the kit just buy the Hulk... Ive been using door doctor for over 20 years now great simple tool
