I have the sense that Man has always been hunters and also gathered grains that grew wild in the field. They just didn't plant when the animals were getting on short supply due to the ice age. Planting was the next copy nature mode. Animals preyed upon other Animals and also ate grains. Why not a hungry man or woman or child.
