Sometimes, Brad is weird. "What is that SOUND???" It's a guitar, Brad. Playing a simple melody. Because it's a song.

August and Everything After is one of the best debut albums ever and it just came out of nowhere. Great for long car trips set to repeat. Lots of memories for me.

This album is good! Definitely nostalgic for me. Still gives me the chills when I listen to it.

"A Long December" would be a great next listen for Counting Crows (from their follow-up album 'Recovering The Satellites'), and to appreciate Adam Duritz' amazing vocals ... check it out guys!

These guys were so big in the 90s that the lead singer, Adam Duritz, dated Courtney Cox at the height of her "Friends" fame. I saw them on tour with Toad the Wet Sprocket five years ago, and it was an awesome concert.

I always loved Round Here because for as simple as it is, there's a lot of poetic expression within the lyrics. Someone once told me their interpretation of the song was people going to boot camp or OTS and all the mental struggles during it and its stuck ever since in my head. Like 'we always stand up straight' I always end up picturing a row of boots (trainees) trying to look in order but on the verge of breaking / crying.

I once lived in the scene the lyrics describe: a group of young people living together communally, trying to make their way in the music business with little knowledge of how to do that, or even how to live as adults in the alternative lifestyle we were inventing for ourselves … “No one makes us go to bed early”….”We’re carving out our names… “we all look the same”… “we talk like lions, but we sacrifice like lambs”. And other wanderers, like Maria in the song, show up in our house with their own drama/trauma/beauty/tragedy, and we’re not able to give them what they need…
Am I projecting my experiences from 40+ years ago into this song? You betcha. This song totally resonates with me! And plenty others, apparently, perhaps in totally different ways.
Brad…it’s an electric guitar. I really do enjoy your reactions, and I appreciate your willingness to take on the music of a previous generation (or two). But sometimes your lack of context for understanding this music, while understandable, is frustrating to those of us that were there. So…we’re on this journey together. : )

You guys! This works for all music.
1st listen? Listen with your heart. 2nd listen? Focus on the words.3rd listen? Pick out individual instruments. 4th listen? sing along in the car. 5th listen? Play along on guitar.

this is one of the saddest songs ever written, because you can't really identify what the source of the sadness is . . . maybe just life . . .

This song makes me cry every time and I don't even know why? I think it's Adam's voice that gets me. Great song and reaction ❤️

It's a guitar Brad lol. Soft guitar melodies. Counting Crows has some good songs and videos. Popular in the '90s and '00s. College/Indie rock. Alt rock, jangle pop. Hipster kind of music. Lex and Brad are good on their breakdown of the song. Good group and song. BTW, Brad really liked "Mr Jones" from them, yall did a reaction to that not too long ago.
Leans a little like Weezer I guess, lol, although Weezer tends to be a bit heavier.
Lex, many of us wished that we were Adam (the singer), he dated a lot of hot celebrities during those years! Too many of them to list lol. He used to have wild dreadlocks, too.

I believe it's called a guitar. And to me, the best part of the song. 🤷

This is my favorite band of all time. Their first CD, which this song came from, is one of my travelling albums when I am driving on long highway trips. The whole album has this feel of an old farmhouse in the middle of a forgotten field of long grass to the horizon. They write such peaceful songs, filled with vivid poetry and metaphor.

I really like their songs 'Sullivan Street', 'Anna Begins', and 'Miami'
