David Gates should have at least received a Grammy or Oscar nomination for this song. He was robbed.

The theme song was as big as the movie . No other decade or city for location would have worked like this did . Truly a 70's gem .

The song and movie were made for each other. Richard Dreyfuss and Marsha Mason were terrific together.

I can't express how much I love this movie. Perfect in every way. You know a movie is good when you laugh through the whole thing and cry at the end. David Gates couldn't have written a more perfect song. Richard Dreyfuss deserved his Oscar win for this. Marsha Mason, Quinn Cummings, Neil Simon and David Gates should have won Oscars, too.

The last scene in the film when Marsha was hugging Richard's guitar in the rain while standing on the fire escape waving goodbye to him in the yellow taxi as the song swells--- I'm bawling my eyes out. It gets me every time.

I love this song. My favorite from David Gates. I've never understood why it didn't win the Oscar that year for Best Original Song.

'So forget your past my goodbye girl... Cause now you're home at last.' Talk about a movie that encapsulates NYC, hopes/dreams, grittiness/beauty, and my memories of NYC living - a one of a kind metropolis.

The perfect marriage of a Romantic comedy and a singer-songwriter ballad! Seriously, the combination of Richard Dreyfus’s, Marsha Mason, and the lead singer of Bread makes this a wonderful encapsulation of the wonderful mid to late 70s feel. I miss that time so much.

Beautiful song that seems to have been forgotten by too many of today's "soft rock" stations. It's time to delve a bit deeper than Adele and Taylor, guys!!
