This feels like a sneak peak of Civil War Week by Week

Truman: You kinda lost a couple times, Mac.

MacArthur: I didn’t lose! I merely failed to win!

Mac is too big to fail; he's the Big Mac - yeah, that's the ticket.

"History does not happen in a vacuum" - lots of vacuum cleaners, vacuum seals, and vacuum tubes feeling left out right around now.

McClellan was an excellent organizational officer however he was hesitant to use his army least it get damaged to the point that Lincoln once famously said to McClellan, "If you're not going to use my army, can I have it back?".

MacArther finally broke the camel's back by pretending that he was in charge when in reality, he wasn't.

I've mentioned this in the comments before, but my grandfather ended up serving as a logistics officer that operated out of MacArthur's office in WW2, during the occupation years in Japan, and during the Korean War after his "action" in Australia during the "Battle of Brisbane" dealing with the riot. He used to say that his actual duties made him a "glorified bellhop", and that he sometime wished he stayed directing people to fix ships and welding container tanks instead of the promotion he was given working closely with command, especially when he dealt with MacArthur himself. He hated the man, and described him as a prissy narcissistic "son of a bitch" who took credit for everything, whom everyone around him ether avoided or hated, and would stop everything and everyone's day to make a big fuss in front of the press. Whenever press were involved, everything had to be just so, and supposedly my grandfather spent a lot of time and grief shuffling VIPs around and meeting outrageous demands setting them up as well as setting up the itinerary for dinners, meetings, conferences, at his behest. This is what he claims he did the bulk of his time until Mac was finally fired by Truman (spoilers), and it really wasn't in his job description strictly to provide this kind of support as he was supposed to be managing personnel and equipment to make sure they got where they needed to be, but when Mac ordered something you did it or there will be hell to pay. According to him, the entire staff let out a huge sigh of relief when MacArthur was sacked, no one held in their contempt for him, and they basically threw a big party with his left over with the fancy stuff that was left behind from his constant events/press conferences/VIP hosting events to celebrate that he was finally gone.

mcclellan also had what lincoln called " a case of the slows " . he could not get mcclellan to MOVE his superior army against lee in virginia . mcclellan made all sorts of excuses as to why he could not fight yet. lincoln did not have a general that would progress in fighting the war, and win, until he put grant in charge.

MacArthur thought himself a Caesar, when he was actually a McClellan lol. As much as he sucks, I'm going to miss him when he goes, he's very entertaining

Love the cobra phones! We had a couple in the late '60s when they were all the rage.

I really don't know how you deliver such well researched timeline of a fluid world conflict we don't make many movies of. Well done, Team Indy.

I like the parallel of MacArthur and George. It makes a lot of sense. Also Mac was kinda all over the place. He was probably the best possible general to have overseen post war Japan, his attack to open the Pusan perimeter was brilliant, then he pretended the PLA wasn't in NK at all. Now he is trying to create an incident to widen the war.

Ken Hechler? Now, that's a name I haven't heard in awhile... I met him a few times. His book about the Bridge at Remagen was very good. Died at the age of 102 in 2016.

Love your animated maps!

Excellent side note on the Lincoln - McClellan conflict! Once again in history: deja vue: we have seen this before!
And thank you again for making these videos available to the general public. Much appreciated! Many of us can not afford subscription services.

I had a dream once I visited McArthur’s place he had built in Tokyo. It was a Japanese castle he moved on top of a skyscraper just to prove his own power.
