This statue of Saint Agatha is in the Basilique Saint-Martin in Liège, Belgium. Saint Agatha was martyred because she refused to marry. Her breasts were cut off during her torture, so she is usually depicted without breasts. She is the patron saint of breast cancer and midwives. The Basilique Saint-Martin was built originally by the Bishop of Liege, Eracle, to thank Saint Martin for curing him of lupus in the 10th Century
