Ooo Steve, I never liked kale (the standard curly type) as I had it once on the side on it's own, and did not like the taste or texture - but fast forward many years - you know in Tesco they do those tubs of mixed veg with a knob of butter in that you can microwave? We bought a couple packs of those when we had a week away and I really liked it - paired with mash & sausages with some gravy, or grated strong cheese over the top.

Now I just make my own version - Cavolo Nero (de-ribbed and finely sliced) and Broccoli, steamed till tender. Then whilst that's steaming, gently fry a clove of chopped garlic in some butter/oil then add in the steamed veg and coat in the garlic-y oil and whack the heat up to med-high. Let the broccoli sit and get some colour, then turn down a bit and add in some frozen peas. Season with some salt and black pepper if you like (I sometimes like to add a little turmeric too). Cook the peas through and it's done. Really tasty, honestly. Bit of gravy on top or some extra mature cheddar.

I also added the Cavolo Nero into my vegetable & paneer curry I make, finely chopped, which worked well.

We are growing kale to feed to our chickens. I also saw the veg plot man use it in a trench for his runner beans.

Seeds can carry fungus and bacteria. Best not to chance spreading new ones into other countries that might not have them yet.
