Thanks so much for posting this. I have been using an 84 for 2 decades and love it. Never got my hands on an 86 though. I was expecting a similar sound but there are pretty large differences. The upper mids are more present on the 86 and the lows sound more extended at a distance. The 84 sounds a bit smaller or compact. The stereo image is smaller.

What kind of monitoring are people using that makes them think the 84 has more top end !?!??

Hey cole long time fan. These demo recordings always sound fantastic, what pres and interface/converters are you using if you don’t mind me asking? Also any post processing besides levels and gain boosting? Sorry if this has been answered before.

Interesting the KM84 seemed a little brighter up top. Wonder how the labyrinth and case contribute to that vs. cancelling with another capsule.
