I was like this woman till I reached 50.Then a light bulb went off and I started saving and paying off all my debts.Even though I was a low wage earner, I have at least 30 times what she has in savings(and I consider myself poor). I wish I had woken up 20 years earlier.

This is not uncommon for many 'baby boomers' her age. Everyone needs financially educated more, no matter the age. And I'm not for the education system trying to teach everything to children, but Dave's financial class should be infused into the curriculum perhaps starting in Jr. High. Unfortunately, it's taken 19yrs to wise up that I dont want to live in debt anymore and I thank God that He put Dave Ramsey's voice in my ear to help me succeed. God bless you Mr. Ramsey!

Everyone needs to remember that these investment vehicles just came about late 80s and weren’t popularized until the 90s. Now I would say not having a mortgage when you retire is a goal. But I think we should keep this in stuff mind. My grandpa had his pension cut in half after he retired. How could he have known that would happen?? I do have some sympathy for my elders.
