Many years ago my Antex 690SD packed in, and as I was in a bit of a bind I just bought another. That was about twenty years ago so it's about time I had a crack at fixing it.

I do love Antex irons. They look so perfect. I still have my first x25 and I wanted to say, ''still working'! Yet, I kid you not I plugged it in -while your teardown was still running - to fit a replacement battery, and nothing... The element had gone when all I wanted to do was say it's been ultra reliable. So I've just been looking for replacement elements and there is a similar one, but these have three screw holes for mounting and to fit the 'hook' which also has three holes... Anyhow, they are still remarkable things. Super value and imagine how many budding electronic engineers started off with a 15W Antex and their copy of ETI? (and Beano).
Glad I found your channel.
