Zedd: I'm An Artist Who Presents A Show, Not A DJ | Forbes

Before regularly scoring six-figure nightly fees spinning thumpy electronic tunes, Zedd got his start playing classical music at age 4. He learned how to plan performances with meticulous detail, an ability that's obvious in his carefully choreographed shows today, which feature less of the freewheeling song selection used by most popular DJs. "I see myself as an artist who presents a show," says Zedd, who earned $19 million this year and $85 million over the past five.

Anton's a genius. I love him as a person and as a musician. He makes me laugh and fell better on my bad days when I watch all his funny moments on you tube. Sometimes his goofyness just cracks me up😂. He's a great person with a big heart ❤️. I see many great things coming his way. Shine on brighter Anton. Love you😘💛💛💛. Congratulations 👏👏👏. From your younger sisterly fan😊 Edit:makes me feel

I agree and disagree. I agree that he isn't a traditional DJ and that there is nothing wrong with presenting a planned setlist. But I also feel like any opportunity to inject the artists personality and self into the experience should be taken, thats why people are there. In live music that shines through in the imperfections and differences between the live performance and studio version. Because electronic music isn't performed live, people seem to substitute the excitement of the live performance with the excitement of the artist/dj improvising the set list and tailoring the show to that crowd as a way to connect with everyone and make the experience unique. I think a blend of both makes the most sense in most situations.

Even if I prepared a set for 3 years... I would still go on stage with headphones. I wouldn't enjoy to see a dj up on stage without any headphones. Come on Zedd.
