Credit where credit is due: Wendy handles questions like a BOSS!! A couple of those reporters didn't seem to have their priorities straight but Wendy sorted them perfectly. Idk who you are or why you're leaving Hawaii but damn, I could listen to you manage reporters like that every day. Nicely done. "People's lives are more important than sitting down to name an eruption" girl!!

You're doing a great job editing according to the dialog, thank you!

I don't know how they can continue comparing this with the 1955 eruption, quite clearly this eruption is a lot stronger and has already covered far more land in a few weeks than the 1955 eruption covered in 88 days.

USGS, you managed this telephone/on line question/answer session very diplomatically. Well done.

Mahalo Wendy, well handled. Have a safe trip and hopefully your team can take shifts and get some much needed respite.

Yes, cut call off quickly before someone asks what may be an important question.

There has got to be a whole lot of pressure built up under that. For years and years even as it releases a little. It’s nothing like what I can come. I pray for all them. And I hope they all get out safely. But they will be somebody that will be stubborn and say oh it won’t bother me. Please go.

It sounds like Wendy is ready to going back to being a scientist and not a person who talks to reporters about science...

you guys nee an electromagnetic sensor in the area to map the EM field of the flows. measure the electric potential of the magma fountains. maybe try this from space and the ground and coordinate the results.

This is so educational!!! Wendy knows her stuff. 🙌🏽 No signs this is slowing down & gas release fm magma is causing lava fountains! Incredible 🌋

I now know where James Douglas Morrison evacuated to during the 70s. He's flying the helicopter and this video

Great video, not so much audio...a little difficult understanding what is being said...she also sounds like she is tired of reporting this activity.

IMO some of these questions were a waste . What is the temperature of the fountain? How high is the fountain? SMH. Steve from Reuters and Caleb from the associated press wanted history lessons. SMH. Repeated questions about naming the eruption. SMH.

Reporters like Caleb irritate the living shit out of me... seriously take like an hour out of your god damn day to at least research Kilauea’s history if your going to be here trying to report on this event.
What ever happened to journalists and reporters taking pride in your career and seek out as much knowledge you can. The media these days is mind bogglingly lazy...

One question, what can we do as humans to tame nature? Look at how much energy we can use!

Should've waited and listen to the last question before commenting. My guess when the time is right fissure 8 will be called Pu'u Luana after the street it is erupting on.

I wonder what those crops are...pineapple or Kona coffee? Sad for people and homes first.

Okay, so, I live in New Zealand, known as the shaky isles. We’re right on top of two techtonic plates that duck and dive beneath us. We live in the shadows of mainly dormant but a few active volcanoes. I give this preamble for all those who might dismiss me as someone who has no experience of such activity.

You all need to leave now. Not sure how big your island is, and I do not have any University metriculation in earth sciences, but you surely must be barking mad if you stay on this island.
Please, the whole world is watching, be sane and be safe. Get the hell out of there.
Bless you all.
