Greenland, the magical land of ice. During the 16-day cruise on board MS Fridtjof Nansen, Greenland showed everything it has to offer. We started with rainy weather and a strong storm as we crossed the open sea. We had to cancel our first stop in Qaqortoq because this year there is still an unusual amount of ice floating on the southern tip of Greenland. So we tried to go to Ivituut instead. We aborted this attempt because the ice was too thick to sail through. The first real stop was the landing in the Kvanefjord and we entered Greenlandic ground for the first time. What a feeling. In Maniitsoq and Sisimiut the sky also kept raining on us. The compensation was the entrance to Disko Bay in magical morning light and the Icefjord showed us its most beautiful icebergs. In Vaigat Sound we went on a wonderful hike and the glaciers of the Eternityfjord were unique. The capital Nuuk delighted us with its bright blue sky and finally we were welcomed by Qeqertarsuatsiaat with its 160 inhabitants, an idyllic village in the middle of nowhere. As the ice was still too thick we had to skip the Prins Christian Sund, which was a shame, but nature plays by its own rules. A great expedition with a great ship!
