They also have an external power supply, you run line an effect an effects pedal, that powers them… if you don’t have room, or don’t wanna use batteries… was gonna lookin to it

I haven’t run any pre-x series emgs at less than 18v in a decade. Definitely the way to go to reduce some of that compression. I’ve heard the x series is made to sound like the 24v mod while stock making the mod obsolete on these newer pickups.

I use this with a baritone conversion neck on my squier strat and i get really clear drop F# riffs

Mega cool, for quit some time I was eyeballing that mod couldn't remember the brand name though. I did an 18V mod in one of my EMG equiped axes and could clearly tell the difference. Most of my guitars have Fishmans now and supposedly on that system it does not make a difference.
