Taraji P Henson CONFRONTS Oprah After She Loses Jobs | Officially Blackballed

According to credible sources, the executive producers of The Color Purple had an emergency conference call with Oprah Winfrey and blamed Oprah and Taraji for The Color Purple flopping.

Reportedly, the film went direct to DVD while still in theatres because the producers are now trying to get back as much money as they can after the flop, and they feel like Oprah should have sat Taraji down and gotten her in line before she started airing her issues while promoting the film.

Allegedly, in the conversation they had, the execs said that Taraji would be blackballed because she is the reason why the film essentially stalled and cost them millions of dollars. But guess what?! Taraji is opening up, AGAIN!

This isn't the first time Taraji talked about pay disparities. Additionally, Viola Davis, Mo'Nique, Nia Long, Gabrielle Union, and so many others have discussed this. Black women experiencing pay disparities, unfortunately, isn't new.

Why were these things not negotiated in her contract before she took this movie role?

If she was smart, she would have waited til after the success of the film! Not in the middle of promoting the film. Not smart at all.

The Color Purple is a film classic no disrespect to the fantastic current cast but it didn't need to be Re Made at All.

To all black peoples. Stay away from Oprah. Monique already told ya!

Sabotaged herself and blamed everyone, especially Oprah, because she's the low-hanging fruit. What part don't you realize that your issues, some valid, were ALWAYS being addressed in every interview you did. If I were a producer/director I'd think twice about hiring her based on her actions. That's not being blackballed smh

Did she expect these people spent all this money on this film to not even break even, let alobe profit? She tanked the film. Oprah isnt all of Hollywood, why aren't Black actors saying anything about the white producers and movie studios? 🤔

Me and my girls went to see The Color Purple (the entire cast did an amazing job by the way)💜💜💜!!! However I have to be honest, the entire time I was watching it, I couldn't stop thinking about how Taraji was crying and so upset about her pay. Yes, I do feel that Taraji's interview may of had a domino effect on the success of the film. They say timing is everything. I love taraji as but when I initially saw the interview my gut said, this wasn't going to end well. Damn, damn damn!!!

If Taraji was that unhappy from the jump, she should have turned down the offer to do the part period...

SAD. But what did she think would happen? They're all in cohoots together. Those millionaires and billionaires didn't getvl that much money honestly. They stepped on or mistreated someone.

She definitely didn't do this movie any justice by speaking so negative during the press junket of this beautiful movie. The purpose of a press Junket is to promote your project. So many people worked so hard on this movie and she pretty much was a downer. There was also early award chatter for Fantasia and Danielle so it also took focus off of that. This is a time where two beautiful black actresses should have really been able to enjoy their moment . All the actors should have been able to enjoy the release of this movie but Taraji and her crying the blues over shadowed the movie it self. She should have waited until after the release and award season was over to talk about her issues.

My great grandmother was in the women's suffrage movement. When I came out of high school in 1971, a woman could not get a credit card or buy a house unless it was under a husband's name. If a pregnant woman was single, the health insurance would not pay. Katherine Hepburn, Barbara Walters, Jane Pauley, Phylicia Rashad, Murphy Brown, Gloria Steinam, Mary Tyler Moore Show. We all had to fight the fight. Hold your ground, Tarija and Monique! You ARE the honorable women! You are touching millions of lives!

Oprah wouldn't really have to get Taraji blackballed at this point... Logically she's gonna be seen as a liability.

The reality is, Taraji speaking out against the mistreatment didn't harm the film, the mistreatment itself did.

Blaming Taraji is like a criminal blaming the prosecutor for going to jail for a crime. The DA isn't the reason you're doing 5 to 10, your crime is.

If there had been no mistreatment of Taraji and the others, there would've been nothing for them to talk about. Blame the film's failure on whoever had the idea to underpay them and mistreat them.

Everyone is blaming Monique and Taraji like they are the bad guys.Everyone should be able to speak their mind no matter what. The ones who are scared to speak up go far in life, but the ones that speak up be outta work…SMDH…We are the only nationality that hinders each other, we can never stick together for nothing and that’s so sad!!! I am so fed up with us hurting each other, our people died fighting for us and how do we repay them, by fighting/hurting each other

How are people so confused?!? She was sent out to promote a film that she was featured in and didn’t do it. She took the moment to air her grievances instead of keeping the focus on the film. She has a right to feel the way she feels and to address those issues, but wrong place and definitely wrong time.

Edit: at this point with all the comments 👇🏾 I say air your grievances out whenever and however and let the chips fall where they may. In doing so, personally I don’t care to hear anything about being black balled because people want to do what they want with no regard and I guess others will do the same. Simple as that.

Taraji should of waited months later to bring the pay issue up. That movie is very important for black woman.
