Chaplains are...quite literally some of the best people. They genuinely do care for other soldiers

I think Chaplains are one of THEE most important divisions in the military for “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but powers and principalities of darkness, evil rulers in high places, and unclean spirits” -The Bible.

You are not worthless. You are an essential part of our community, and a great life line when we are deployed. We truly appreciate our chaplains

Atheist who never served here. I always thought of the Chaplains as the some of the true “best of the best.” Their service makes their faith unquestionable, and their job is to advocate for the rights of those with the weakest voice in the military (lowest ranks).

I judge people based on their actions, not their beliefs, and all I see are good actors (people).

God bless you brother! You are definitely not useless. The keyboard warrior who thought so probably has never served and would be quite surprised if they heard the real thoughts from soldiers and Marines and sailors on their chaplains

...until you need one. We were in a terrible car accident and in my son may have died in my arms. At the hospital a chaplain came and prayed with me. Thankfully my son is still here and God has since called me to the ministry. Caring for a wounded soul with God's love at the lowest point of their life seems pretty important to me.

Chaplain Sam Neel was in an Army unit that was captured by the Germans in late WWII. In captivity, they were surviving on little water and a tablespoon of molasses per day in a train car.

On Christmas Eve, Chaplain Neel got all the men singing Christmas songs, and one of them was "Silent Night". After they finished, a German guard pounded on the door, and tearfully exclaimed "Sang again!"
So they sang it again, and the guard brought more food, and they sang it again, and got more food ... this went on for hours, and it saved the men of the unit from starvation.
After the war, Dr. Sam Neel went to Florida, and worked on establishing a community college, which became Manatee Community College, and in 2009, became Florida State College, as they became accredited to issue Baccalaureate degrees.

One Chaplain saved the lives of his unit during the worst war in history, and his legacy continues to enrich the lives of many thousands of people in peace.

Clearly this person hasn’t ever talked to a chaplain, because when your down and have no where to go and it’s too hard for you to handle on your own, he or she is always there to guide you. Speaking from an Australian army stand point

I cannot imagine any person from any religion or not ever thinking an army chaplain is ever useless.

My chaplain from BCT was very helpful and steered me down the path of faith. When others thought i was on a dark path and wanted to medboard me out he listened and realized i wasnt suicidal as much as just being sad and taking it hard being away from my family in particular my daughter for the first time at length without means of contact other then once a week, thanks to him i not only found god but my career was able to bloom and continue as it should have and motivated me to pass basic and supported me in my endeavors both in and outside of the military as a reservist.

I loved my last chaplain in the army. David Clement. The best chaplain I've ever had.
