Despite the negative comments, I’m so glad you highlighted the less obvious churches some of us have never seen before!
Thank you for this! 🙏❤️

But the best part of having faith in GOD is even if you can't ever visit one of those beautiful churches, you can pray to the Lord in your humble shack because he is there ALSO⚠️

How could you miss St. Basil's? Far more popular and interesting than a lot of the ones mentioned here.

I guess they never heard of or saw Notre Dame in Paris. Quel dommage! And Hagia Sofia certainly counts as a church, truly iconic in its history.

This video is delightful to watch either so many beautiful and different churches, full of information and historical facts. These churches are different with unique styles but gorgeous indeed. The Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain, is worth seeing if in person. It is breathtaking.

Love the video, it is impressive and definitely worth watching. 👏👏👍👍🙌🙌♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

There were chiristian vikings.. it all just depends on your definition of vikings. As a semi-nomadic people swapping between a agricultural lifestyre to going "viking" as in, living in fjords, travelling to foreign countries while living of trading and piracy, there certainly were vikings going to church. The stave churches like Borgund and Urnes may carry on some traits of old pagan temples merged with later christian traits.

To be clear: I'm not saying they are repurposed temples, but that there is a theory that the architecture is based on that of old temples. Another is that they were attempts to mimick basilicas. Having studied them quite a bit myself, I find the pagan roots explaination much more probable due to their square layout and other traits more closely resembling native stave constructions but with added decorations. One very layman argument as an example would be that if they really wanted to make a basilica out of wood, long halls would be a better and familiar starting point. Instead, the stave churches seem to be built for a different set of rituals, probably a more norse type of catholic christianity.

A well-summarized info source that was available only on encyclopedias with a couple of audio perks back in the 1980s. Such meaningful progress to achieve further discoveries in this kind of study.

I am really surprised that you did not include the Chapelle of Notre Dame du Haut, designed bryLe Corbusier at Ronchamp., in South Eastern France. Anyone not familiar with this church will be fascinated to discover this beautiful building as an expression of faith and reverence.
