Clone a Bootable USB Flash Drive to Another USB Drive for FREE
A bootable USB flash drive can be used for a variety of tasks, including installing an operating system, fixing system errors, restoring a system backup, resetting the password for Windows 10/11, and more. However, if files are accidentally deleted or written to, a bootable USB device may suddenly stop working or cease to be bootable. Of course, you may manufacture a bootable USB stick from scratch, but this process is typically laborious and time-consuming, especially if you need one right now. As a result, it makes sense to backup data by copying or cloning an existing bootable USB flash drive to another USB flash drive.

It is more difficult to copy a bootable USB flash drive than it is to copy regular files. The partition table setup, all of the files necessary to make the USB device bootable, and all of the metadata.

What cloning software do you use? Let me know in comments below.

So the destination disk shouldn’t be of a smaller size compared to the source one? And what if the data contained in the source disk, is of a smaller size than the size of the destination disk?

Nice video Brian I run this software myself and use it for everything from backing up and cloning as per your video.

I took a NVMe module from an Asus laptop. Can I boot directly from it installed on a USB case? Or should I have to process its boot records first? Thank you.

my destination flash drve wll only convert back and forth from gpt and mbr before its formatted to fat32 or NTFS, so while its RAW is the only time it will let me convert to and from gpt and mbr. After you format it to ntfs or fat32 it no longer allows me to convert it. I tired every which way to clone the drive in the software you suggested and I get a disk error stating "can not clone destination disk due to partition struct of the source" We suggest that you keep that the type (MBR or GPT) the same etc etc. Its saying that both drives have to have the same structure. The destination drive wont convert while formatted to ntfs or fat32. The source drive s ntfs, mbr, CSM/Legacy. Please, what is going on?

Can someone please help? I have two identical flash drives. I'm trying to clone a Windows 11 bootable flash drive I have that was created using RUFUS. Its set up CSM. Its just a typical USB 3.0 32gb flash drive. The destination is an identical flash drive formatted to NTFS and I've tried FAT32. Im getting an error message from Aomie cloning software stating that both the source and destination drive have to both be either MBR or GPT. When I try to convert the destination flash drive to MBR or GPT it says this specific disk is not convertible. Any ideas? I feel like I could have just created a new bootable drive from scratch using the original ISO. I wanted to try this to save time.

i tried PW partition wizard Mini Tool it cloned the drive alright but dumped it on my mother system. Even PW staff could not figure out how to fix it and neather could they tell me how to stop the update page from popping up. I erased their whole program/software but still have the pop ups to update. wtf

Will this allow me to copy a bootable DVD to a USB drive and have the USB bootable as well? The DVD does not show up in the volume display. Thank you.

Thanks Britec. Also Image Burn can also create a bootable disc as well. A very old program that still work. May not be as good as the one that you just used. As always I enjoy your content. Thanks again. 👍🏿

You said in you video that the link to your cloning software was in the show notes. It is not.

Once again you're using the terms SSD and NVMe separately. An NVMe drive IS an SSD!
