Minecraft - Turn any Chest Invisible

With a very simple trick, you can hide any of your chests behind an invisibility cloak in Survival Minecraft!

Also, for good measure, destroy any copies of that map you may have.

If you have a copy on your person, then re-enter the same location in the nether, the map will sometimes start to fill up.

This was a "bug" that shouldn't have been fixed.  It was a very cool "feature" that allowed some creative things.  And the invisibility isn't that overpowered, as it can be beaten easily.  I really wish it would be reimplemented, but it probably won't.

You can edit world data in any game mode. The game data is in your hidden Appdata>Roaming folder. the easiest way to get to it is go to "open resource packs" in the game, go up a directory, and go in the "saves" folder.

Using /setblock to place a chest between two existing chests will create what looks like a large chest and a block of air, but actually, it's a triple chest with one chest invisible.

it is because a chest is a tile-entity, signs for example also are tile-entitys, so if you place signs and item frames and maps you cant see the signs but you see whatever is behind there (if a chest is there also will not be rendered)

it works on entities, but not blocks. A little fun trick to play is put these invisibility shields on your doors and windows. your house will look unoccupied, but are they in for a shock when you're inside full-diamond ready to slay

Remember you have to put a transparent block above the chest to allow it to open.
If you're clicking too far away or Shift-clicking, it will only rotate the map and not open the chest.

Item frames are entities and chests are blocks. You have less reach to interact with entities than blocks and so if you stand just the right distance away you can still open the chest.

its not completely invisible, but it has a very cool 'cloaking' effect as you said, reminds me of the invisibility cloak from HP. probably shouldn't be removed for that reason, as its not too easy to create :p
