Karen and Stacey met at a flute masterclass the summer before college. They realized while they were there that they would both be attending the University of Rochester/Eastman School of Music in the fall. After years of playing together in (multiple) orchestras in college, Stacey found Mitzvah bars and suggested that they play it at Karen's next flute recital. While that didn't actually pan out, they joked about playing it together for years afterward - though they lived too far apart to get together and play it. Thanks to Covid (and learning how to virtually play together), Karen and Stacey were finally able to play together again on this piece they've talked about for seven years now.
