Merry Christmas gang! 🎄
PS. We decided to not include Damar Hamlin out of respect towards the man.

While it's not the NFL, and not an nfl player, Jim Rice, Boston Red Sox, saved a kid's life. He was standing on the edge of the dugout at Fenway. Not sure if he was up after the on deck hitter, or was just watching the game. A pitch came in and the ball was hit right into the stand where he heard a loud odd sound and screams. He jumped up into the stands and saw a boy bleeding heavily from his head where the ball had hit him. Knowing it would take any medics in the stands minutes to get there he grabbed the kid and headed into the locker room. The team doctor followed, did a quick assessment and did what he could to get the kid stable. Rice went to the local hospital with the kid. While waiting he saw that the family was of modest means and could never afford the bills. He went down to the billing department and told them to send all the bills in his name to Fenway. He paid everything. The doctors said that kid was minutes away from death or severe brain damage and that Jim had likely saved the kids life. The kid as later treated to a Red Sox game at the teams expense and got a bunch of gear.

You missed the worst of all time. Detroit Lions receiver Chuck Hughes died in 1971 in the fourth quarter of a game against the Chicago Bears. He went out for a pass and was heading back to the huddle when he collapsed. Dick Butkus of the Bears saw him violently convulsing and was frantically trying to get help. Doctors from both teams tried to save him, but he died in the ambulance. I'm from Detroit and a life-long Lions fan, and I remember watching this game live when it happened. I've never seen anything even close to that day. Still remember like it was yesterday.

THANK YOU for including Sean Taylor on this list! He will forever be my favorite player ever. I have so much stuff with his name on it and jerseys. I hate that Taylor doesn’t get the recognition he deserves cuz his life was cut short. But he was gonna be one of the best safeties ever if not the best. He rivaled ed reed and polamalu. I was 11 when he passed but I remember hearing he was in the hospital n just hoping n praying he’d make it n then he was gone. 😢😢😢 it still hurts me he lost his life the way he did. Over some money that those four punks tried to rob him for. Senseless killing man.

Great list! I'd like to submit both Ryan Shazier and Damar Hamlin as well! Absolutely terrifying to see them both on the ground like that.

6:51 I'm a Cowboys fan, but playing with those kind of burn injuries? Wow, and I thought Ceedee Lamb was tough for playing while having a dislocated shoulder.

Joe Theisman’s career-ending hyperextended knee was gruesome.

I appreciate your reason for not showing Hamlin's terrifying injury. Thank you for having respect & giving the man his dignity.

I was at the Titans game when the field equipment caught on fire. It was against the Colts and it was about 115 heat index that day in Nashville. The fireworks for the players intro caught some of the equipment on fire. The Titans also retired Mcnair and Eddie George numbers at halftime.

You forgot one. (from Davenport Sports Network): 🏈On August 12, 1978 New England Patriots wide receiver Darryl Stingley suffered a broken neck and was paralyzed from the chest down after taking a savage hit from Oakland Raiders safety Jack Tatum in a preseason game. “There's been a fracture and dislocation of the 4th and 5th vertebrae, " says a Patriots team doctor, "and a subsequent compression of the spinal cord that immediately rendered Darryl quadriplegic."

Concussions (minor and major) are a part of the game. Managers and owners will never admit to it.

Solid video but leaving out Damar Hamlin is criminal.

Tua as well. As a lifelong Miami fan, the entire house was in tears. We thought he died on the field.
Understand Hamlin's exclusion...same sentiment as we think he did die?, but got brought back.../shivers

He should have been included because that us no. 1. What about Alex Smith, who almost lost his leg and Aaron Hernandez who commited murders due to CTE. I'm sure there are more. Hurricane Katrina shouldn't be there at all.

Missed Detroit Lions OL Mike Utley 's career ending spinal injury in 91or 92, also Lions OL Eric Andolsek, who was struck and killed while weeding in his front yard, also in 92, I think. Remember Reggie Brown's very well, God bless you both, Mike and Reggie, and RIP Eric.

You have Sean McVay getting bumped by a player, and Mike Hilton giving jump scares to his teammates in the locker room, but left off Ryan Shazier and Damar Hamlin?

Ryan Shazier & Joe Theismann - gruesome on-field injuries that scared everyone when they happened.
Shazier almost died. Never came back to football.
