Cooking tip. If the bag explodes it probably is a good time to stop the microwave.

Don't bother with it if you've only got a 1000w Microwave, as I do, it takes forever, turns out small and hard and turns brown with minimal crackling. And at it's absurdly expensive for what it is at $3.50 for 35grams, that's what, $100 a KG... For pork crackling... That you've gotta make yourself...
I can get La Hoguera's 18 month aged Jamon Serrano from Spain for $70 a KG and that is in my opinion the finest Serrano Jamon available anywhere. I think it even tastes better than Iberico Jamon, even the top of the line $400-600 per KG De Bellota type, but that's a contentious issue. Seriously though search some out and try it, you won't be disappointed.

Hi Daz. I've bought this a few times while on sale @ $3.00 Yes the value is pretty poor but about equal to some jerky out there.
I like it with a beer and strangely enough crushed over fried rice 👍🤤
The $2.00 pack at Coles is better value.
So is this Sharp microwave the one you replacd with the did Panasonic?
Thanks for providing the link here.
Cheers 👍😀

I was hoping it would be real pork crackling, not chip like snack etc.
You can buy these style pork crackle chips already in small 40g bags at Woolies which work out to be $45 per kg.
They're just not temperature hot.

This isn't too hard to make with some Pork Skin from the butcher, lard, salt and a dehydrator.

It's not meant to be like the crackling you get when you do a roast. This is the same as the pork crackle chip's. Cooked an entirely different way to roasting it. The original way to do this is boil the skin then dry It in the oven and then deep fry it.

If you buy one of those already cooked roast pork, from Coles or woollies. They have rubber skin, so what you do. Cut off the skin and scrape away all the fat on the skin. Then put the skin between two plates and microwave it. Time depends on the size of the skin. Usually 1 to 2 mins. Then just let it cool down, and crunchy crackling. Caution - the plates will be very hot !!

I always cook my bacon in the microwave between some paper towels because I'm lazy and can't be bothered cleaning up the frying pan, it turns out surprisingly well.
