2:48 Interesting coincidence. In the German city of Limburg an der Lahn, some bacteria were detected in the tap water, due to standard examination of water quality. The next day chlorine was added to the water by the utilities company, in order to serve as a disinfectant, and when that didn’t work an public ordnance was put out to only use tap water that you‘ve boiled (212F) before use. Investigations on the source of the contamination are ongoing. While this is unusual for a town of the size of Limburg (population 36k+) to incur at all, it primarily shows how much effort is put into maintaining tap water quality in Germany.

🔥 This is called ‚Feuerplatte‘ ('fire plate') and it works great on various types of grills, like a kettle grill, for example.

3:54 with regard to vegan food: Rügenwalder (the one with the red wind mill logo seen on the shelves there) was a meat processing company before they started their vegan products. They have done that for 10+ or even close to 20 years now, and the taste of their vegan stuff is pretty much indistinguishable from their meat products nowadays. And they aren’t the only company who have progressed with this. It’s mostly about fine-tuning the spices and eliminating undesired tastes and textures from the products, and, well, German ingenuity does the trick. (Although I personally had to discharge a serving of vegan nuggets yesterday because on buying them I had failed to notice they were made from pea proteins, which unfortunately I can’t properly digest… The soy- and wheat-based stuff works super well for me though.)

2:39 I worked for a while in Las Vegas. It made me crazy that the tap water wasn´t save to drink.

4:00 Sometimes I buy the vegan stuff out of curiosity or because I remember my summerjob in a meatpackingfactory.
20-25% are okay I would say.
The rest really taste like restructured plant protein...

well, if somebody wants to live vegan or vegetarian is fine for me, but i want my meats! as a german i appreciate that the vegans have enough options for a "healthy" diet.

Why do they aways show the one-way-deposit and not the more environmental friendly reuse-deposit?

🧀 Most vegan substitutes are neither here nor there, and I've tried my fair share. There are a few spreads that taste quite good, but they all fall short compared to real cheese, meat, eggs, yogurt, milk, or butter. Of course, there's nothing wrong with a well-prepared tofu dish.

I don't care about veganism. I mean, why do vegan products to mimmick meat taste? Because meat taste is ingrained into our system. And that's for a reason. We are not supposed to eat veggies only. For even, I am fully dedicated to the Carnivore diet. Thankfully in english there are quiet a few good videos out there on youtube. But of course, everyone as he prefers. Just don't try to indoctrinate me.😊
