Maas' books are generally either a hit or a heavy miss for me. (spoiler alert: lately it's mostly been a miss for me, for the past few years). But for the sake of analysis, a few months ago I went back to reread ACOTAR and even though I don't like the series and what it devolves into in books 2 and 3 (mainly because of the sanctification of Rhysand), I did manage to enjoy book 1 a whole lot more on a reread. Particularly because the characters acted in character. Well, all except Feyra, who was wildly inconsistent - no shocker there tho, as she fits the needs of the plot.

At this point in my life, I have no desire to tackle these books 🙈 but leaving a review about how bad the book is based on residue on the cover is just nuts lol.

Ps- I just ordered the 6 mistborn books so someone can give them to me for Christmas 😂🙈 Thanks for making me want to read them so bad! Haha

... The actual folktale of Tam-Lin is so much more interesting, from all the reviews I've seen of this series.. Definitely not for me, if I need smut I can get it for free with characters I already like lol.

My favorites are old people leaving reviews on YA and then saying "this not not YA, too much sex too much cursing" LMFAO. I would probably criticize it but not on that premise, maybe on the poor writing or it just being words vomited on a page with no plot advancement.

my favourite one is the one with amazon reviews AND erasing this book from the world. (the book is truly a dumpster fire).

BUT. the one with "paper thin feminism" is a good one too. do you know who's review that one belongs to? i wanna cop that phrase but give credit. gosh darn it. it's hard to choose.

I haven't read Acotar and am not planning to because from what I've heard I would not like it (I don't like romance-heavy fantasy). I read the synopsis in the bookstore a few months ago and my first thought was 'this kinda sounds a bit like a YA fantasy version of Shades of Grey' haha.

Lol the one about reading it to understand the SJM craze is kinda relatable bc that’s what I’m planning to do. Not sure if I’d end up with the same thoughts about it tho

The funny thing is, that two thirds of the book are actually pretty chill plot wise. There is not much happening BUT it was not boring. At least not for me

It's so mean, but you have to laugh 😂 Plus, did it make you happy that even though they called the writing poor, they then gave and example?
