I lost a childhood friend today to suicide. It crushes my heart to think that she thought she was alone in her struggles. This song is for you sweet Holly, may your soul rest now, with grace in your heart and flowers in your hair. 🌻😔

Two years ago this song helped save my life. And I'm so glad I got over my hill, because now love dismisses my fears, and now I have grace in my heart and flowers in my hair. I am finally happy. It's worth fighting through, no matter how bad it feels at the moment.

I lost my husband ten months ago today to inoperable cancer. Through all that time it has been as if he was talking to me, whenever I hear this song. Every verse, every word rings true. And now, ten months later, I am approaching that hill. Mourning and grieving haven't stopped, but the agony is easing, and I am finding the grace to look forward and see what my life can hold.

I'm just gonna say; Mumford & Sons has been slowly getting me away from self harm and suicidal thoughts––they've saved me. I hope they can save everyone else who's lower than low, like I have been.

I was recently diagnosed with bipolar schizophrenia at 22 and Just recently got out of the hospital after 75 days. I thought my sanity was gone for good, but this song along with medicine and very good doctors pulled me out of the worst episode of my life. Now I can maintain a job and only occasionally have positive symptoms.

I remember listening to this song on repeat after my best friend took his life. He was everything to me and and then he was gone. This song was one of the few things that helped me get through the grieving process.

This song makes my heart ache, in a good way. It gives me hope that things can get better.

I was driving home from Oregon, to Georgia, where I had gone to get my son who was so sick, he couldn't fly home, my only child a young man so sick I wasn't sure he'd even make it home, he had been too embarrased to tell me he'd lost his job, and that he was failing physically, and failing out on his own at 19. I drove 3 days straight, it took 6 months to find he had intestinal cancer, I almost lost him a few times. He was healed of cancer with cannabis oil. He had 2 other life threatening illnesses, we are still dealing with... This is the song he wanted to hear all the way home <3 It is seared on my soul. Thank you Mumford and Sons for comforting my son all the way home.

I’m 27 now, and since this song came out in 2010, became my absolute favorite, is the anthem of my life. It describes all the mental battles and difficulties that I’ve been through, but I know that in the middle of the storm there’s always beauty, and hope, so I have to be strong and stay in this world. keep fighting people, everyday has a rose and a thorn, let’s appreciate more the roses.

This song became my anthem in 2013 when I decided to live with and manage bipolar disorder
. I'm doing well, am happy and continue to move forward.

This song and it’s lyrics can relate to SO many different struggles us humans go through. Mentally and physically. I relate thing song to loss whether death, relationships or sad change and my mental health is at its lowest. It’s artists like these who care to write good songs. Not for profit, not for the top 40 and not completely in self gratification that we should thank for giving us such powerful lyrics and songs to help emote our emotions and express just by listening and enjoying and sometimes crying- which is a good thing. Crying is healing. When you don’t cry and you’re numb and silent- that’s when to worry. Sorry for the lengthy message. Just thank you Mumford & Sons for creating this beauty 💜

This is probably the most powerfully tear jerking song I've ever heard. I cannot listen to it without welling up.

"With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair." I love that line - so evocative and timeless...
