I love the book collector excuse! I am definitely going to use that and feel less bad about my unread TBR (which I think is at least twice as large as yours... ooops!)

I don't blame you for not being too eager to lend out your books. When I was a kid I borrowed a "friend" a paperback copy of Two Towers. it wasn't any kind of special edition or anything but LOTR is my favourite series ever so I was horrified by the condition in which he returned the book to me. Split. In. Half. It was irrepairable and I'm still bitter about it 20 years later although I no longer know that guy. Having said that it did lead to my Dad bying me the 50th anniversary edition which contained the whole trilogy and I loved that book. These days I don't have physical books because I'm a blind reader but I'm so jealous of people like yourself who have these awesome book collections. I suffer from an ever growing tbr as well.
