When you give a country it's independence, how can you then expect it to give that freedom back a couple of decades later? Especially as the current Russia is starting to look more like the former USSR every day, except now as a right wing autocracy instead of a communist one.

Russia has been trying to place many troops close to the Ukrainian border since late last year. NATO countries fear a Russian invasion. The United States fears that a war between Russia and Ukraine will endanger Russia's gas supply to Europe. That is why the US government is in talks with international energy companies about the supply of extra gas to Europe.
About a third of the gas used in the European Union comes from Russia. In addition, part of the pipelines between Europe and Russia runs through Ukraine.
Recently, several Western leaders have expressed support for Ukraine and warned the Kremlin of the consequences of a raid.
Tensions between Russia and the United States and other Western countries have been running high due to the conflict in Ukraine. A civil war has been raging in the east of the country since 2014.

Goes back several centuries. Hmmm. Thr rich history of Kyiv goes back over a thousand years, The People of Ukraine have been a thorn in the flesh of Turks, Poles and Russians. Other than that - a very important interview. I wrote a paper eight years ago as to how the WEst needed to stand up to Russia over the Crimea or we would be back to 1938.

We sent Nato in and their only request is that we pull Nato. Why not pull Nato (?) - we can still defend these countries if invaded like we did with Kuwait. But Nato is a bad political thorn for Russia and we don't need it there for our purposes.

We can't fight Russia in Ukraine, the truth is that if Putin wants to take it he can. But if Ukraine fights they can exact a heavy price and if they never give up and we support them as much as possible Putin will lose...eventually.

I’ve met some Ukrainians. The guy I knew closest, he was a Russian supporter. It was weird to meet the person that was from Ukraine and pro Russia.

what Russia doesn't understand is that Ukraine always been a buffer state between west and east and that even though they lean towards western side (aka. Euopean Union etc?) they still have Russian proclivity to some extent
