actually pronounced "Mo-gee-on" Rim although that's not how its spelled or at least what we called it when I lived in Snowflake and hunted all over the Sitgreaves National Forest up on top. When I lived there you drove to the Valley through the Salt River Canyon and Globe then they made the back way through Heber, Kohl's Ranch and Christopher Creek to Payson easier and safer by making making it into a real highway

I usually go to Flagstaff when i need a break for the summer heat in Phoenix, but it also reminds me of home. The pine trees and nature there is alot like the one in Norway where I am from :)

I haven't been around Payson since 2000, so it was nice to see the area again watching this. And you're right, the drive up on 87 to Payson is amazing. I daresay it rivals Interstate 17 in terms of scenery.

During the winter, you should consider doing a tour of Yuma. I live there, and I'd be happy to tell you all about the area!

Another very nice blog of yours, highlighting Payson! Gila county, in Arizona is the only future "Penturbian" county in Arizona. You may want to look at the Jack Lessinger, Ph.D. book, Penturbia on the subject, where he portrends future population growth areas in the future.

I have a older friend that wants to move there he is a veteran and very stubborn he lives in a storage unit here in Montana and he talks about how he is leaving every winter then he never does ..I was wondering how the housing market is there for older folks? he lives on a check.. I plan to move to arizona too I might try payson just so I can help my older friend move there I personally want to try Sedona this winter .. he really needs the help though the guy is sleeping in this cold out here and he has some kind of heart condition I told him he can't keep going like he is it will just get worse each year he needs somewhere he can relax out the weather and just have comfort he is 76 years old and has ALOT of stuff move so I'm hoping when i save for a car i can rent a uhaul trailer to pull some of his stuff that's even if i can get him to even take the first step on calling someone about a place

Looks like Arizona doesn't require a front license plate. In California it's a $100 fine. Of course, everything in California is a $100 fine.
