Jon Anderson & The Band Geeks perform the Yes song "Starship Trooper" live in concert at the Fox Theater in Oakland, California on April 8, 2025. Starship Trooper originally appeared on Yes's third studio album, The Yes Album (1971).

According to Jon Anderson: "Starship Troopers was a great title of a book by Heinlein. And I just like the idea of Starship Trooper being another guardian angel and Mother Earth. The third verse was all about, “you know who I am, just take care of my soul.” So it was as though I was writing about my search for truth and search for an understanding of what God truly is."

Jon Anderson is a British singer-songwriter from Lancashire, England; he was the lead singer and founding member of Yes. He has been touring and recording music with The Band Geeks since 2023. The Band Geeks started as an audio podcast in 2014 and evolved into a YouTube band. They consist of Richie Castellano (bass), Phil Castellano (keyboards / guitar), Matt Beck (guitar), Christopher Clark (keyboards), and Andy Ascolese (drums).
