Gaga stated in the Spotify fan "press conference" that the album starts with the most chaos (or "mayhem") and progressively gets less and less chaotic as she thematically "works through" things as the album goes on. That's why DWAS is the finale!

Personally LoveDrug is actually one of my favourites because of its simplicity. Against the amazing rest of the album I think it serves as a really good classic pop breakup anthem where what you hear is what you get.

Feels like something she would’ve put out during The Fame next to Poker Face and Paparazzi

I haven’t had so much fun with music in a long time. This album honestly makes me want to get up and do a figure skating routine and I can’t even skate. Long live Gaga! 10/10

Disease, Zombieboy, and LoveDrug are some of her best songs in the past decade. I feel like the whole album is cohesive and tight and deserved an 8 but a 7 is fair.

Gaga said in an interview that the reason why she ended the album like that is because it symbolizes the titular "Mayhem" ending. It's over now, she can now settle down with the man she loves, which is why the last 2 songs are love songs.

I think it's actually really interesting how the album is so front loaded with the craze and bombast coming out first and then slowly mellowing out. The only skip for me is The Beast

The "Mayhem" is supposed to end, she starts out to cure the "Disease" confronting with the mistress of mayhem, later on The Beast she accepts it as part of her own, only then being able to attain love for another person (Michael) in Blade of Grass and them both (Stefani and Lady Gaga) being able to die with a mile, acknowledging that despite the mayhem, they are still conjoint forever.

Having 3 mid to weak songs (out of 11 other bangers/strong songs) weigh down the album to a “strong 7” is a wild take. I thought it deserved a weak 8 at least!
