Keep in mind, when layla gets all 4 stars on her shield, its fortified with 24% shield strength and thats just one of her passives. Its a mini zhongli shield, albeit without the pure damage resistance from all sources but still a damn good shield

As a ganyu main without zhongli, Layla is better than diona, her cryo application makes so that you always get 15% crit rate from the resonance and gives ganyu charge attack buff at c4

My thoughts on the whole Diona vs Layla situation is a different line of thinking. I've read most of the comments and yes, Zhongli and Diona are currently the best utility shielders in the game.

BUT... the issues i have with both of these two is gameplay. Idk if its just me, but when you play Genshin enough you tend to run into either mechanical or server interruptions. Whether this is due to server ping or input during an enemy or environment interruption i'm not sure, but there is nothing worst holding E down and it not being registered as a hold E. This ruins gameplay and interrupts the gaming experience.

That is why I generally hold both Thoma and Layla above Diona and C0 Zhongli any day of the week (except mono Geo teams). Just smoother gameplay. There is nothing more satisfying than tapping E and then Q and swapping characters. Yes they both have problems with stacking shield, especially Thoma, but that's a skill issue. It means i'm playing bad, that can be improved. When you hold E down and it doesn't register, for whatever reason, that can not be improved. This is why, i personally have both Zhongli and Diona benched. Maybe if I got Zhongli's constellation that turns it into a tap E, it would fix my issue with him. However, i don't see that as worthy investment compared to getting a brand new 5 star or 5 star dps constellations.

Pretty sure Diona's shield also provides increase in movement speed and decrease in stamina consumption. With sac bow Diona's shield is 90-100% uptime. Also, Diona's burst provides em and debuffs enemies. Overall I think Layla is the best cryo sword character that's released in Sumeru

I want layla but i already have diona in my team. I think i'm not pulling for her cuz they're basically the same lol. I also need battery for my team so diona is a perfect choice. Besides i'm guaranteed so i dont want to risk- but If layla can heals i might be risking some wishes tho

Utility wise Diona C6 is better. Reduce stamina, EM boost and healer. Its just without sacrificial bow her shield isn't 100% up and you need ER for her. Her shield is also weaker but she has good particles from holding E.
Layla has stronger shield and better cryo application and attack boost at c4. Plus lower ER so you can focus on HP more.
Zhongli better utility overall, 100% shield uptime and his damage absorbtion is for all elements and physical damage so its very strong, has shred and his burst deals a lot of damage if build correctly (mine does around 100k as a burst support shielder). But he is a 5*

I don't see the need for Layla since Diona already works really well for melt ganyu and my perma freeze team already keeps everything frozen in abyss. But for those who do not have a reliable shielder Layla is a good option especially at c4. Her shield is cryo shield though so keep in mind its stronger against cryo but weaker against pyro.

The damage is dealt to the shield is based on the DEF of the active user. so I t wouldve been better if you have the same character tanking the atks.
